Our History
A Legacy of Excellence.
Alma, a name steeped in history, represents more than just a company; it's a legacy forged by the union of two visionary partners—Abdul Latif and Muhammad Akbar. The acronym "Alma" bears witness to the enduring commitment and collaboration of these two pioneers. What began as a modest family venture has evolved into a thriving business spanning over 50 years.
Founded initially as Alma Leathers, we embarked on a journey in the leather manufacturing realm, mastering the art of transforming raw hides into refined products. Our dedication to quality craftsmanship was evident at every stage, from raw materials to the completion of intricate leather pieces.
Mr. Ehsan Elahi, son of Mr. Abdul Latif, emerged as a driving force within Alma. His tenure showcased an excellent work ethic, shaping Alma's trajectory with innovative strategies. Mr. Elahi not only significantly contributed to Alma's growth but also held the prestigious position of Chairman for the Pakistan Tanners Association during his leadership. His visionary approach and insights into the intricacies of the leather industry have been invaluable.
Mr. Shahzad Elahi, the son of Mr. Ehsan Elahi, has played a crucial role in guiding Alma through a transformative journey. Demonstrating strategic vision, he spearheaded the importation of specialty chemicals and raw materials, catering primarily to the demands of Alma leathers and then distributing to similar end users in the region. This strategic move marked a significant shift for Alma, moving beyond its traditional manufacturing focus to explore the specialized domain of importing. Mr. Shahzad Elahi's foresight and proactive approach not only addressed the specific needs of their leather industry but also positioned Alma as a key player in the broader landscape of chemical and raw material trading.
In response to dynamic shifts in the market landscape, we made a strategic decision to transition away from leather manufacturing. The emergence of artificial leather and the rising popularity of sustainable alternatives like ragazine prompted us to redefine our core business. As we navigated the dynamic currents of the business landscape, we recognized the evolving needs of industries worldwide.
Alma underwent a significant transformation into a chemical trading company. Today, our global footprint proudly extends across diverse industries and sectors, catering to the intricate requirements of our valued clients. The transition from leather manufacturing to chemical trading wasn't merely a strategic shift; it served as a testament to our capacity to embrace change and innovation, solidifying our position as a versatile and forward-thinking entity in the competitive market landscape.
In 2017, Alma International Trade emerged as a testament to our expanding global footprint. Situated in Karachi, this establishment embodies our dedication to international commerce and serves as a hub for our diverse portfolio of chemical products.
As a 4th generation family business, Alma continues to thrive on the principles of integrity, innovation, and customer satisfaction. Our journey is a story of resilience, growth, and a commitment to delivering excellence in every endeavor. Join us as we continue to shape the future of Alma and make our mark in the world of global trade.
